Bangkok Airport – Known for World-Class Facilities and Services

Airports are known to foster trade and commerce for they help transport people and goods easily and quickly to any destinations across the world. With the country’s economic growth to some extent depends on airport, it is important that the airport should be well-equipped with all the facilities for the smooth operations of the airlines, airport management, maintenance of aircraft, storage facilities and more.

There are many airports that are ranked as the best in the world for the infrastructures, facilities and amenities they provide and they always stand apart. Started in 2006, the airport initially handled domestic services and then extended to the international services. It is the operating hub of the few airlines like Thai Airways International, Orient Thai Airways, and Bangkok Airways. The airport grew to become one of the busiest airports in the world and Asia. It is known in the international aviation industry by the Bangkok Airport code BKK.

Facilities and Services Offered by Bangkok Airport


Designed in the unique Thai style, the Suvarnabhumi Airport is instrumental in the development of business and is the logistics hub of the Southeast Asia. Built on the 8000 acres of land, the airport can handle over 45 million passengers, 3 million tons of cargo every year and 76 flights per hour.

The facility consists of a single building passenger terminal taking care of domestic and international passengers. The building has seven floors and two basements; the first floor is dedicated to the bus and taxi service while the second floor and fourth floor handle domestic and international passenger arrival and departures respectively.

The third floor of the building is occupied by restaurants and shops and CIP rooms. Thai Airways International, along with the Star Alliances office is housed on the fifth floor. When the sixth floor is the service center, the seventh floor has Airport Express Platform and the luggage transport system. The Bangkok Airport facilities also include seven concourse buildings of four storey to serve the passengers.

Other than these, the Bangkok International Airport has the runways, aviation control tower, the power station, water supply station, waste water treatment plant, and car park building.

Bangkok Airport Lounge Facility


Passengers who are weary can take rest in the Bangkok Airport lounge located in the concourse buildings. There are lounges on the third floor of the concourse buildings B and D, which are well-facilitated with upholstered chairs. The lounges are also equipped with the televisions that offer a range of programs such as the news, movies, and other entertainment.

Information on Flight Arrivals and Departures

The airport has an information center that offers complete information on the flight arrivals and departures. Other than this, one can log into the airport’s official website and check for the real-time flight status. The airport also has tourist information counters that help with the destination, flights and tickets.
